WeatherDisplay32

You can find out somthing about its capabilities, but not all, about it by visiting www.weather-display.com. You can download it from here and it will work as a 30 day evaluation after which you will have to license it to continue using it.

Because it comes at a very low price for such a powerfull tool and because it is constatnly being developed there is no manual for it. There is however an excellent forum with many thousands of users around the world who have experience of using WeatherDisplay. Additionally the author monitors the forum regularly and this is the best plase to get support from him.

The forum is at www.weather-watch.com. Just remeber that the author is in New Zealand so his time zone is very different to the UK.

There is also an online manual at wiki.weather-watch.com. It has not been updated for a while but don't be put off by that as the core of the product has not changed significantly since.

All of this advice is releveant to the full and basic versions of WeatherDisplay. For those using the basic version please remember that there are many more features in the full version.

The key things to remember when you are setting up WeatherDisplay for the first time are;

  • Under "Setup" in the menu bar is the "Setup Wizard". It may not do everything you want and it doesn't matter if you set something and then want to change it later but it is a good place to start.
  • Most other functionality is set in the "Control Panel".
  • In Com Port set up communications with the weather station. For USB HID devices such as Oregon Scientific and Irox this will be aotomatic. For serial connections including virtual com port such as with Davis WeatherLinkUSB or with a USB to serial adapter you should establish which port you are using and set it here.
  • In Station Type select which kind of station you are using. Make sure you select all of the options relevant to your your station even if some are called Default they need to be ticked.

Once this is done you should see the data received and data quality lights go green and WeatherDisplay will start communicating with your weather station. You can then explore all of the many features and functions available.

To publish to the web you must go to the Control Panel > FTP & Connections > Connections and here set up the details of your FTP host and don't forget to turn the Main Internet Switch on.

If you are using WeatherDisplay Live you will need to go to Control Panel > Web Files > Real Time to set up the uploads and again don't forget to turn the feature on.

Hint :- If you are using a Davis USB WeatherLink you will need to go to your Windows > Programs > WeatherLink and install the CP210X USB Virtual Com Port. To save you having to hunt for which ports it has used take a look in your Windows Device Manager.
