February 11th/12th: Parts of East Sussex and Kent saw a lot of snowfall for a time as in a brisk cold NE'ly flow a shower train developed and clipped the SE for a time which gave about a foot of snow in parts of Kent in particular but also fell and lay as far west as Eastbourne (where snow lay on the beach for a time) causing transport disruption & some school closures.

February 15th: Half way through the month and its been only slightly colder than average (1.2C below the normal) so far but quite dry with just 62% of the average rainfall across England & wales as a whole and just 50% across most of the south & west. The next week looks set to see a more unsettled theme with low pressure never far away giving a breezy mix of rain & showers with hill snow.

February 23rd: Likely the mildest day of the month today with Jersey recording a max temperature of 12.5C

February 24th: Some very cold nights in Highland Scotland; a run of 8 consecutive nights in Scotland, especially at Braemar and Altnaharra. The 23rd saw temperatures fall as low as -19.2C at Braemar in fact on top of deep snow giving a UK range of 31.7C. A lot of snow fell too with all roads to the Highlands  blocked at one stage, trains cancelled & thousands of homes in Perthshire without elecricity as 300 schools were closed.

February 27th: Scotland has seen further snow, with 60 flood watches issued across Scotland and England. A woman died when her Land Rover was swept down a swollen river near Cropton, North Yorkshire. Some 60mm of rain has fallen in parts of Kent, Sussex, Hampshire in the last week, with sodden ground likely to cause problems as a very deep low, around 965mb 6named Xynthia runs from NW France into the East Channel with storm winds to its south and gives another 20-30mm here. However on the NW French coast winds gusting to about 100mph are likely.

February 27th: Despite the extremes at times, February ended up quite average overall: temperatures were a degree or so down, rainfall and sunshine near were generally near average though. March looks like seeing a very cold start though , especially by the 4th onwards, for many.
